If you find you cannot finish the reading, do as much as you can and answer as many quiz questions as you can.
The pages you skipped have to do with the complex personal reactions of the Khurana family to the loss of their sons. Your reading begins with chapters on how the bombing affects Mansoor, the surviving boy. In the pages assigned, Mansoor returns to school, goes to college in the U.S., returns to India, and becomes involved in an NGO. He also makes a fateful friendship with a fellow NGO volunteer, Ayub.
The pages you skip deal with the growing friendship of Ayub and Mansoor.
I've asked you to read 173-175 because here Mansoor returns to the scene of the bombing.
Pages 188-207 are part of a new section, about "Ayub Azmi's Response to Terror." They open after a big demonstration Ayub planned flopped, his girlfriend broke up with him, and he has fallen into a rut. He escapes his rut with a fantastic plot to kill Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
QUESTION 1

How do Mansoor's classmates in India react to the bombing when Mansoor returns to school? How do his American friends react when they hear he was a victim of a bombing? In general, how do the reactions of the people around Mansoor to terrorism affect him?
The children are shocked, or to say that they try to behave as shocked as their parents(119). In the beginning, they don’t think it is true. After proving its authenticity, the classmates are curious to know what the little boy can do and how he survive(119). His classmates will surround him and are curious about his wounds(120). His American friends don’t care so much when it comes to the bombing. When he starts to share something, his friend keeps asking other questions and he thinks terrorism is very weird(125). People don’t pay attention to the bomb in American(126). In the beginning, He thought he was a freak. (120) The fact of the bombing, filled him with an odd pride. (122) When he finds that people don’t care about the bomb, he stops talking about it and concentrates on his job (126).

Pages 133-146
Describe how Mansoor gets involved with an NGO. What exactly is the train of events that brings him to this organization, what are the organization’s goals, and what impact does Mansoor’s involvement have on him? Where does he find himself on page 146?
Because, he met Naushad who worked for NGO(136). What’s more, Naushad told him that he can provide help for NGO(137). Many people are regarded as terrorists as a result of the lacking of witnesses. Mansoor can be a witness with the attempt to prove the innocence of a wronged person(137). Besides, his classmate who is a friend of Naushad called him and tried to persuade him to be involved in NGO(138). Mansoor is not good at saying no even if he doesn’t want to go. The goal of the organization is to guarantee peace of all people(136). Peace for all is about community harmony(136). What’s more, it is aimed at providing a fair and prompt trial to those who were arrested as a result of the bombing in 1996. Mansoor becomes active in the group and going over to the room in Defence Colony two or three weeks for meetings, telling his parents that the NGO works for “communal harmony”(143) he helps to publicize the organization and runs around for the organization. He finds himself in the mosque on page 146.

How does returning to the site of the bombing affect Mansoor? In what way does he think the chemist almost has it worse than he does?
Even everything is back to normal after the bomb event. What’s more, people also return to normal life order, Mansoor still reminds the scene of the explosion. People only focus on the space around them, but Mansoor has a larger view of the square, and he thinks there is a possibility that another explosion occurs(174). Mansour heat beat faster and his pulse faster(174). He is also a little tensed(174). He recalled the scene of the explosion. He recalled that the shop was blown to pieces, the ceiling collapsed, and the medicine was crushed with a beep. He is under destruction, fear, and doubt(174). The chemist lost his eyes. What’s more, after the bomb event, the chemist still needs to go to work. Even the second day after the bomb, the chemist would return to his tattered, bandaged shop and direct mazdoors and the police, or anyone else assigned to help the owner of the shop. (175) The chemist is less sensitive to the explosion and it is more easy for him to get back to normal life(175).

Who is Zunaid, and how does he help Ayub progress toward his goal? How does Zunaid react when he hears about Ayub's plan?
“Zunaid was a local fixer and thug, known to have ties with gangs.”(190) Ayub asked Zunaid to buy a gun for him. A few days later, Zunaid brought a pistol. What’s more, Zunaid taught Ayub how to use the pistol such as explaining its qualities. Zunaid is curious to know why Ayub needs than and he is even glad to provide free help. “He told him that he had been sent by a political party to recruit people to kill Modi and that he was looking for a team to carry it out. The payment would come from a rich man in Bhopal.”(195) Zunaid has no idea when it comes to who is Modi. Ayub explains that Modi has killed millions of Muslims. Zunaid is a little worried, bacause, he says that “the problem is that he is well guarded.”(195)

Ayub’s friend Zunaid puts him in touch with a real terrorist. Who is this, what does he think of Ayub, and why does he agree to work with him anyway? Who is Malik, and how do Ayub and the terrorist know him? Why is Ayub planning to return to Delhi, and why is he going to see Mansoor?
Zunaid puts him in touch with Shockie. “That is a very good speech,” Shockie said, “You should be a politician.”(201) "You see my problem, " Shockie said, "It is a problem of trust.(201) “But there is a way. If you can get me to meet Malik Aziz, who is a friend of mine, I'll be convinced." (201) When Ayub shares something which is closely connected with Malik, Shockie decides to believe in him. (201) Ayub worked with Malik. Malik is Shockie’s friend. (197) Malik worked for NGO. Ayub is planning to return to Delhi, because, Mansoor is in Delhi. Mansoor is a victim of 1996 blast. They want to know more about the victim, especially the Muslim ones. What’s more, Mansoor is a good friend of Ayub and is worthy to be trusted.(207)
