(2)The social conflict theory states that the interaction between human beings and the society is through the form of conflicts instead of consensus. Therefore, it is the basis of the society’s structure, which is formed by the contradictions and conflicts, that cause the inequality in the educational system of the US.

2.Dr. George Gerbner discussed the existence in a mediated world as a fish swimming in water. What did Dr. Gerbner mean by this? Provide an example to illustrate your point.
(1)Dr. George Gerbner is illustrating his theory of the mean world syndrome, which means that the world is filled with information that people ignore just like the fishes in the water. Moreover, the water also represents the restraint towards the normal people, which is deliberately by the institutions such as the pervasive medium. More specifically, this term is used to describe the influences that the mass media cause to the public, which causes the public to believe that society is more violent than it actually is.
(2)One example that I can think of is the police brutality. In a period of time, the polices are deemed as a group of racist thugs by the reports from the mass media while in reality, there are only a few cases that the police uses the violence to treat the people of color.
