I am working on the diversity of musical elements in the music theater written by
Andrew Lloyd Webber, because I want to find out the collision and integration of
classical music and pop music designed by him. For example, he may integrate various

theater.

Music theater , as an integration of multiple forms of art presented in different kinds
of performance on the stage, is well received by the audience. Webber wrote a series of
music dramas enjoying a world-wide reputation including 《Cats》, 《The Phantom Of
the Opera》 and 《Evita》. What’s more, numerous music in the dramas, which enjoys
popular support and is widely circulated, is regarded as classics. As for the reason, it is
because Webber adopts diversified methods in expressing music. In his music works,
different styles of music like classical music, pop music and folk music integrate and mix
together; the melody is beautiful and attractive; both bel canto and popular singing show
their splendor together; the instruments used further combine traditional symphony and
pop electronic music. All these make the music drama much more expressive and
unforgettable.
Before research, I take time to watch a large number of Webber’s music dramas and
get to know his resume. I mainly go to watch music dramas on scene, think about the
composition of music drama and then search relevant information on the internet or in the
library.
