The Promotion of volunteerism
The topic I choose is the promotion of the volunteerism in the area of helping homeless people. Volunteering activities are those events that favor the other groups or people while the actors do not receive benefits from those activities (Wilson 254). In the United States of America, quite an amount of homeless people are those who desire working opportunities yet cannot get jobs instead of the social idlers who give up on themselves. Therefore, the promotion towards homeless people should focus on the empathy that people have towards the tragic life of homeless people.
To promote the idea of helping homeless people voluntarily, there should be some specific goals during the process of promoting volunteerism. Moreover, the specific goal should be able to show the progress of the promotion. Therefore, after the promotion, the number of people who participate in voluntary activities should have significant growth.

After making the specific goal for the promotion of the voluntary activity about helping the homeless people, the particular strategies should be selected based on the goal. Therefore, after a thorough interpretation of the strategy theories in the textbook, it is valid to state that the incentive theory is most suitable for the promotion of voluntary activity that tends to help the living condition of the homeless people. The incentive theory shows a pattern of the stimulating effects that the external factors such as the money, honor, and so on (Weiten, p304, para.5). Based on the incentive theory, since the voluntary activities do not involved the financial benefits and even some of them requires people to offer their resources to help those people who are in need, the first step of the promotion should be the propaganda about the sense of honor on the social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and so on. Moreover, based on the theory of the observational learning, during the process of promoting activities of helping the helpless people, there should be some models who keep a regular basis of participating in the voluntary activities. The theory of observational learning states that most studies of human beings happen during the observation of other people (Weiten, p210, para.1). In other words, the models are set in order to provide the objects that people can observe and learn the behaviors and meanings of the voluntary job. What is more, the promotion of the voluntary activities of helping homeless people should be more centered based on the theory of the similarity effects? In other words, the promotion should not be performed in a range like the country, or state. More specifically, the promotion of the voluntary works should focus on a smaller range, such as a college campus. The similarity effects provide a theory that people will tend to behave similarly to the people around them (Weiten, p427, para.5). Therefore, by focusing the promotion on a single campus, the effect of the similarity can increase since there will be more people involved in their friends are all doing the same thing.
As to the measurement of the numbers of the participants, the people who sign up on the twitter group can be identified as the standards of whether this activity is active or not.
